History

Bright Art Gallery History - Annie DelanyThe Annual Art Exhibition was commenced in 1963 using many and varied venues in Bright. The ultimate aim was to establish a community Art Gallery in Bright. After much fundraising, and with the help of the then Shire of Bright, the Gallery acquired a permanent home in Mountbatten Ave in December 1982. The Autumn Art Exhibition was first held in the current gallery location in 1983.

Annie Delany was the driving force behind the establishment of the autumn art competition.

John Masciorini was a great support for Annie. His love of art and music was well known and he gave much time and funds to the gallery.

Bright Art Gallery History - John MascioriniThe gallery was extended, again after community fund-raising, and the new wing officially opened at the 1994 Autumn Art Exhibition.

Again, after fundraising and bequests, the gallery raised enough money to qualify for a grant to renovate the building in 2012. We have improved facilities for exhibitions, functions and to our great pride have facilities for less mobile members and visitors.

In recent years the Gallery has diversified its exhibitions to include solo exhibitions by local artists, a two month summer exhibition, photographic exhibitions, the P-12 School exhibition, Indigenous Art, in addition to the Autumn Art Show.
